Your dashboard is lying to you about weekends

Seasonality inside a week is stronger than most teams assume, and rolling averages hide exactly the signal you need.

Seven-day averages smooth away the story

A rolling seven-day average is the default on nearly every analytics tool, and for good reason — it makes charts readable. It also makes Saturday invisible. If your product is used at work, weekend behaviour is a different product being used by different people for different reasons.

Split the series. Plot weekdays and weekends separately for one month and you will usually find two distinct curves that the average had been quietly blending into one flat, uninformative line.

What to do with the second curve

Weekend usage is often your clearest signal of genuine personal value, stripped of any workplace obligation. If it is growing, something is working. If it is flat while weekdays climb, you may be measuring compliance rather than enthusiasm.

Pricing pages are product surfaces, not marketing pages
